Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)

The University of Virginia accepts academically motivated students into the program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  The degree is awarded after satisfactory completion of a prescribed program of study.

All students at the School of Nursing take courses in anatomy and physiology, growth and development, pharmacology, pathophysiology, administration, and nursing practice. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination.

In every case, an applicant must be in good academic and social standing. Selection of applicants to the School of Nursing is competitive, based primarily on scholastic ability demonstrated by secondary school records and scores on the SAT and/or ACT. Relevant volunteer or work experience in a clinical setting will be taken into consideration and may be a factor in the selection process.
