Global Initiatives
We live in a world where ancient tribal cures hold fresh interest for modern
researchers and healers, where a poultry virus in Asia ignites concern for a
global pandemic, where civil wars in Africa generate refugees in Virginia, where
teams of health care providers are dispatched quickly worldwide to provide
relief in times of disaster, and where the web can offer prevention and
treatment information anywhere to anyone able to access it.
The UVa School of Nursing boasts a revolving door to the world. We are
enthusiastic about preparing our nursing students to embrace both the challenges
and the exciting opportunities of our global community and to be enriched by
programs that involve them with the people, cultures, and healthcare of our
neighbors worldwide. We especially value programs that intertwine education,
research, practice and service.
